In recent years, there’s been some growth in Cybersecurity interest in Belize. Today, the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries in partnership with CARICOM IMPACS is hosting a 2-day Cybersecurity Sensitization and Training, July 20 -21, 2023 at the Biltmore in Belize City.

The specific objective of this activity is to promote awareness to reduce the risk of cybercrimes and implement mechanisms to enhance cyber security.  The target audience includes managers, policymakers, technical & non-technical staff who may not be versed in the topic and would benefit from the sensitization as well as to allow networking.

The Ministry’s intention is that it will lead to the next step of reviewing and updating the Cybersecurity Strategy 2020 – 2023, for a further 3-5 years and ensure that the Strategy is inclusive of an Implementation Plan which anticipates one of the priorities to establish the National Cyber Security Incidence Response Team. This review and update will be done with the support of the OAS who has been supporting in this regard since the onset.

I’ll be sharing insights on the delivery and learning objectives after the sessions conclude.
